G4 Airs Ghostbusters: The Video Game Demo, Comic-Con Clue Revealed

Monday, July 14th, 2008

G4 just aired the demo of Ghostbusters: The Video Game.  The demo, which was previously described as “hands on, in-depth” was simply an interview with associate producer Ryan French with previously unseen video footage spliced in.

We did, however, learn that the big announcement at the San Diego Comic Con revolves around the multiplayer mode of Ghostbusters: The Video Game and will take place during Friday’s panel with Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

Could this mean a full local co-op mode?  Perhaps Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson will make themselves available to play online?  Tons of possibilities, tell us what you think.

World Premiere Demo of Ghostbusters: The Video Game Airs Tonight on G4 (7PM EST)

Monday, July 14th, 2008

As we reported earlier this month, today is the world premiere debut of the Ghostbusters: The Video Game demo. It will air as part of G4’s E3 programming starting at 7PM EST.

After witnessing the amazing technical demos from Terminal Reality, I have a feeling we are in for a treat. Start practicing your “ooohs” and “aaahhs” and set your Tivos, you’re not going to want to miss this!

Terminal Reality Post Ghostbusters: The Video Game Tech Demos

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

It looks like Terminal Reality is excited to start showing off (and possibly licensing) their innovative game engine dubbed the Infernal Engine the team has been working so hard on, prior to working on Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

With just two days until the world premiere of the Ghostbusters E3 demo, Mark Randel, Terminal Reality President and Lead Technologist, narrates three videos (below) which show off the impressive physics engine (dubbed Velocity) that powers Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

UGO Posts Updated Ghostbusters: The Video Game Preview

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

UGO posted a brief preview of Ghostbusters: The Video Game.  The preview included much of the same information we’ve seen in previous write-ups by other media outlets, but did include some information about online gameplay.

Although we didn’t get too many details, it was also confirmed that Ghostbusters: The Video Game will include an online co-op mode.  Completely independent of the solo play-only story, players will be able to team up as Ghostbusters in a series of arena-style matches.  Progressing through the main game unlocks “Most Wanted” ghosts for co-op capture.  The online component will also include other objective-based tasks, such as “capture X number of ghosts.” Again, details were scant… we’re just happy to know that online play is a confirmed feature.

Sierra or Activision: Who Ya Gonna Call?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

With Activision’s acquisition of Blizzard (the publisher of World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and many other titles) and Sierra (the current publisher of Ghostbusters: The Video Game) almost official, it looks like Activision will likely be the official publisher of Ghostbusters.

What does this mean to Ghostbusters fans?  More marketing muscle for the video game (ever hear of Guitar Hero?).  Aside from that, time will tell.  Thanks to Kyle for the tip!
